I must open with a VERY BIG THANKS to all who have posted show results and other daffs from the current Northern spring .
You have a long season from California to the Great Lakes and we are all very much enjoying seeing your flowers as we are now starting our planting . In the hectic rush that is the daff season , it is not always easy finding time to post the flowers and show results , — but we do appreciate getting our autumn daff ” fix ” . Thanks for sharing your beautiful flowers .
TAHI , number one , first tazetta .
Thank to American – Kiwi co-operation ( Bill Welsh and Max Hamilton , ) we are starting to flower the first tazettas . TAHI , ( Maori for number 1 ) , is indeed no 1 , the first to flower here and has been out for about 2 weeks . A strong tazetta fragrance , tall , strong stems and big heads . However we are still enjoying warm autumn temperatures and the flowers are not lasting long .
WINTER SUN , a great early tazetta , ideal in a pot .
Yesterday I called on Wilf Hall , ( delivering bulbs ) and , as expected from a tazetta enthusiast , Wilf had quite a few leaves emerging ; also spotted was his delightful tazetta , “WINTER SUN ” , looking very golden in its pot . Two nerines were also looking smart in their pots , nice heads on tall stems .

INCHMERY KATE is an attractive pink and LADY DI WANDIN is a big crimson / red toned head , very well shaped .

Now finished , but giving very strong colour about a month ago was my pots of SCARBOROUGH LILY . Quite wide flowers 4 – 5 flowers per stem , striking deep orange colouring , with attractive golden pollen .I think it has had a name change and is also known as the VALOTTA LILY . Great late summer colour ..
