This post covers the ADS awards for miniatures at the Murphys, California show.
The Miniature Rose Ribbon is for the best miniature seedling originated by its exhibitor, excluding the Container Section. The Miniature Gold Ribbon is for the best miniature in the show, excluding the Container Section. The winner of both ribbons was seedling 10-05-02 10Y-Y exhibited by Jon Kawaguchi. You can’t tell from the photo, but the diameter of the cup was little more than a half inch (a little more than 1 centimeter for metric users). The perianth segments were uniformly reflexed, but overall it looks more like Division 10 than 6.
The Miniature White Ribbon is for the best set of 3 miniatures in the show. The winner was seedling 2-M1-14 7Y-Y exhibited by Bob Spotts.
The Lavender Ribbon is for the best collection of 5 miniatures excluding the class for 5 American-bred miniatures. Flowers in the winning collection are: ‘Little Flik’ 12Y-Y, ‘Montongo Group’ 10Y-Y, ‘Sabrosa’ 7Y-Y, ‘Classic Gold’ 10Y-Y, ‘Flyaway’ 12Y-Y. The exhibitor was yours truly.
The Miniature Red-White-Blue Ribbon is for the best collection of 5 American-bred miniatures. Flowers in the winning collection are: 2M-3-14 7W/Y-Y, ‘Sewanee’ 2W-Y (Watrous), 2M-6-14 12G-G, 2M-5-14 9W-GYR, 2M-2-14 7Y-Y. The exhibitor was Bob Spotts.
The Watrous Award is for the best collection of 12 miniatures from at least 3 RHS divisions.
