A Few Photos from 2016 World Daffodil Convention

I waited a little while to see if anyone else would post some photos since there were lots of people with cameras there; however, I’ll give it a little push by posting these few.

This show included an artistic design section as well as horticulture.  The left picture show one of the classes for large designs by adults. (The show included a couple well populated classes for youths.) The center picture shows the small designs. The picture on the right is the best design in the adult classes.

The ADS national shows have included a photography section for several years. These pictures show the fabric covered panels to which the photos were attached.  Pieces of Velcro with hooks were put on the backs of the photos. The hooks then gripped the fabric on the panels. The picture on the right shows the photo section located in the same room as the horticulture exhibits.

One of the tours was to the Missouri Botanic Gardens where the bulb garden had been planted with many cultivars of daffodils in anticipation of the tour during the convention. Here are a few of the attendees in conversation over a daffodil bed.  It looks like Larry Force, Teri Carter, Bill Carter and Harold Koopowitz.

The last day of the convention featured a visit to Jason Delaney’s field in Flora, Illinois. We also had lunch there, and the lower picture shows one of the cakes for dessert.

There was also a tour to Cindy and Joy Haeffner’s farm and the town of Hermann, Missouri, but I have no photos of that since I was busy photographing the ADS award winners that day.

  1. Great pix Kirby. I may have pix of all the designs and closer ones of the photo div. I have yet to get them on a cd so I can load them in my laptop. Hopefully, I can get it to Lynn and see if she can get them on here. She has so much free time now. lol
