‘American Peace’

The most impressive daffodil in my exhibition bed for the last three years has been ‘American Peace’, 5 Y-Y from the Havens. Check it out on DaffSeek.org to view images and learn more about this outstanding daffodil. It is a dependable and excellent show flower. It is wonderful for use in collections where you need variety. The “clear lemon color” is very appealing. ‘American Peace’ is floriferous and long lasting, even in the heat of our springtime. I grow daffodils on the outer fringe of the realm of possibility—USDA zone 8b—in the Coastal Plain of middle Georgia, USA. I have VERY hot summers with humidity which causes “air you can wear”. So I’m always impressed with a daffodil that performs well here—and knowing I can count on a blue ribbon from it consistently—is noteworthy.
I’m sorta’ in daffodil withdrawal, I have not exhibited this year (show in ATL cancelled, no blooms worthy of making the long drive to Nashville). This winter and spring weather has been dismal. Enjoying ‘American Peace’ has helped me endure.

  1. Good to hear from you Jaydee and know you are ok. You and your dynamic personality, along with your southern humor have truly been missed at the shows. We hope to see your return soon. thanks for the up date on American Peace, sounds like a really good one.  For a Triandrus to do well  in the south it has to be good. That brings up another event we as daffodil growers truly miss, the Mitsch and Havens Spring Catalog and being able to order such fine daffodils as American Peace.

  2. Oh my, Jaydee, I am so pleased that a division 5 would do so well for you. It has been great here but it has about as ideal conditions as there are. Thank you for posting.

Hope it does well for others as well.
