Becoming a Judge

What is the procedure to become an accredited daffodil judge? Can I take the Judges III course in Richmond if I haven’t had I and II?

Carla, I haven’t seen a reply to your question yet, so I’ll take a shot at it. The three schools do build on knowledge to an extent. However, if you have been showing for some time, or have experience judging other genera in flower shows, you might be able to pass taking the schools out of order. Ask a couple judges in your area who know you what they think.
I can tell you that the identification portion of School 1 will be given in Richmond, as one student who has completed all the rest of School 1 still needs this test. So you could probably get a leg up by taking this test at that time too. Check with me or Ted Snazelle once we’re all there and know what we are doing and when.
I assume you already have the Handbook of Judging, Growing, and Exhibiting Daffodils and have studied it. If not, that is your first step. This handbook also describes what is covered in the various judging schools and the process of completing the training.
