Daffodil Bulbs and Flooding

At our NENCDS fall meeting and bulb exchange on October 27th in the “teeth” of Hurricane Sandy one of the members made a comment that Hurricane Irene in 2011 flooded there area, but not their house.  The bulb beds were under water for the better part of a week.  I think Irene came though in late August 2011.  This spring 2012 the beds did not produce daffodils.

Has anyone had any experience with daffodil bulbs that are flooded in their beds during the dorminant season or the fall time frame?  I had never heard this situation before.

I have had beds flooded in the spring and the beds produced good daffodil flowers, but the flooding was only for a day or two.
