Danger Zone 2W-P

Hello everyone

A few years ago I was given a ‘starter pack’ of bulbs when I joined my local Daffodil Society.  One of the bags was of ‘Nynja’ 2Y-Y.  The first year these grew well and most flowered.  The second year, amongst the 2Y-Y, was a lovely flower that I later found out to be ‘Danger Zone’ (see picture).  I marked the bulb and at the end of the season separated it.  The first year after re potting it grew well but didn’t produce a flower.  It appears it is a bit shy and misses a year when divided.  Has anyone found this?  Also Daffnet doesn’t list any descendants.  Does anyone know if it is fertile?  Hopefully it will flower this season and I can get some pollen.

Thanks

Andrew

  1. Hello Andrew,

I have set seed on Danger Zone as a pod parent. Don’t think I have used it’s pollen, but with parents of Quasar and Refrain, the pollen should be fertile.

Most any daffodil can sometimes fail to bloom after digging and dividing, depending on it’s various growing conditions. I wouldn’t worry about that, once it gets settled in, it should bloom every year for you. It is a very nice flower.

    Regards,

    Larry
