Dr. Harold Koopowitz – Awarded AOS Gold Medal!

Congratulations to our own, Dr. Harold Koopowitz! Harold was awarded the prestigious Gold Medal by the American Orchid Society last night. As with the A. D. S., the A. O. S. Gold Medal is the highest honor that the Society can award.

Harold’s resume in the Orchid World is lengthy and staggering in scope. He is an acclaimed and sought after speaker, author of two of the finest Orchid books ever written on the genus Paphiopedilum, an Orchid breeder of world renown, former partner in Paphanatics, a world class commercial Orchid company, writer of scientific papers on the genus, and a superb orchid grower for many years. This little bit doesn’t begin to cover his voluminous resume. He has contributed to every aspect related to Orchids.

Sincere congratulations Harold! Well done and WELL DESERVED!

Steve

  1. Harold,

Congratulations for your American Orchid Society’s Gold Medal, their highest honor.  Last year, April 2012, you received the American Daffodil Society’s gold medal which is one of our two highest honors.   Our gold medal is awarded for service to the genus Narcissus and the silver medal is our highest honor for service to the society.  I think both flower societies recognize your wonderful support and accomplishments for two very different types of plants.

Can you share some information about the award and the event or ceremony?   A photo of the event would be nice to see too.

    :)

    Ben

  2. Congratulations, Harold!  It could not have been more deserved!
