fertilizer – calcium sulfate

I have finished a room renovation project, leaving me with extra strips of ‘Sheetrock’ aka gypsum board . The main component of this is re-hydrated calcium sulfate -CaSO4,  which in an earlier post on Daffnet (Laura Baster, Dec 2, 2006), mentioned it as one of the necessary minor mineral  elements in daffodil soil.  I am thinking about using these strips as pathways in the daffodil beds, and am wondering if there are any negative effects to the beds or daffodil bulbs as the Sheetrock disintegrates over the year(s)  releasing the CaSO4 into the soil?  My beds are highly modified from the original schist soil with nursery screened top soil and sand.
