Late, late flower

It is June 4th, 2015 and there is still a daffodil in the garden. It is one of the Haven’s jonquils that just keeps send up spike after spike. Wish I knew which cultivar it is. This is the latest we have had flowers without having to force or retard them. At this time of the year I am prepared to forgive that it is lacking a little (actually a lot) in substance.

Anyone still have daffs in their gardens. I suppose people in Minnesota or Canada might?

  1. I took my daffodil flag down last weekend – very last Mission Bells was fading fast.  Picked my first bearded iris a few days ago, and first peonies today.  Kathy Julius has a yard full of peonies and some of her early ones were already done last weekend!  The daylilies are getting big, so we’re rapidly moving in to summer perennials.  Seasons move very quickly here in Minnesota – we enjoy them while we can.  Happy late-spring!  Margaret Macneale
