Murphys show – Classic best bloom, Classic best single stem exhibit

The Classics section is new in 2012, and there are four ADS awards for this section. A classic
daffodil is defined to be a standard cultivar registered between 1940 and 1969 inclusive.
Miniatures were not included because there are still a lot of miniatures from this period that
regularly appear in shows. It’s the standards from this period that are being superseded by
the latest introductions and that therefore can use a boost in visibility. There is one ADS
award for the best bloom in the section. The section includes classes for single stems,
three of a kind, and a collection of 5 different cultivars. In addition to the obvious awards
for the best set of 3 and the best collection, there is an award for the best single stem
exhibit. In this particular case, the best exhibit of a single stem was also the best bloom
in the section. It was Daydream 2Y-W (1960) exhibited by Nancy Tackett.
