Thanks for the link, Drew.  Matthew Zandbergen wrote about “Narcissus poeticus in its Natural Habitat” in the March 1971 issue of The Daffodil Journal.  He mentions the celebration at Montreux and recalls sometimes travelling in trains lavishly decorated with the flowers.  The article also talks of other places in Austria where poeticus were growing, and mentions the Narzissenfest in Ausseerland in 1970.

    You may just have to schedule a trip to Lake Geneva in late May next year and report back to us as to whether the festival still occurs.  Sounds like an interesting investigative trip.  And hey, even it the festival is not going on anymore, you’ll have to find some way to spend a week or to in Switzerland.
