National Daffodil Society North Island Show 2017

An early season ensured that there were plenty of entries at the NDS North Island Show at Gisborne last weekend. We were hosted by the Poverty Bay Horticultural Society and what a great job they did of running the show. Many thanks to everyone involved. The daffodils were some of the best I have seen on the benches for a long time. Even the South Islanders, who usually struggle to find good blooms so early in the season, were able to bring some fine blooms to the show. Not that Air New Zealand made it easy as three of us found our daffodil boxes lying on their side when we went to pick them up!

Cosmic Ice 1W-W was the Champion Bloom, and a fine one it was too, exhibited by Fisher Nurseries. Robin and Ian (Fisher Nurseries) took over the Ramsey Daffodil collection, and had Lesley on hand to help them stage their blooms.

Sizzle 2Y-R was the Runner-up to Champion for Miller Daffodils. A lovely symmetrical bloom.

  1. Congratulations to the winners and condolences to those whose blooms were damaged in transit. Two stunning blooms, Denise!
