Obit of Elizabeth Clopton Brown

Dear All:

With sadness, I am reporting that my mother, Elizabeth Clopton Brown, passed peacefully after a short illness on Tuesday, October 14.  Some of you may remember she won the Van Beck medal at the 2008 Richmond Convention on her favorite historic, Daphne 4w-w.  She had been growing and showing daffodils since the 1950s and became a judge in 1976.   Historics were her always her favorite daffodils and she was known locally as the ‘Queen of Historics’.  She continued showing even this year.

Her complete obituary has been posted online at http://www.gazettejournal.net/index.php/obituaries/obit_ind/elizabeth_clopton_brown

  1. Elizabeth Brown was a “main-stay” around the Gloucester, Richmond and our daffodil show in Barco, NC.  Elizabeth always remained one of the days of “ladies, and gentleman” always dress and presented herself well and was at the top of her form.  She treated everyone as if they were Kings and Queens.  We always counted on her and Ceci to display a few nice collections of historic daffodils at the show.  Until the last two or three years she was constantly a Silver Ribbon Award winner, and had an award named after her at the Gloucester show. There’s not too many left like her. Fran and my hearts go out to Ceci, her sister and the family.
