Otaki Daffodil Show , – 2017

The  Otaki  Horticultural  Society  had  our  Daffodil  Show  on  Friday ,  2  September , –  an  early  show  date  but  suited  by  an  early  season .  We  have had  a  warm  ,  very  wet  winter  and early  spring  and  all  growers  reported  that  flowers  were  taller  and  larger  than  most  seasons .Entry numbers  were  high  with  125   singles  and  69     vases  3  ; a  healthy  total  of  332    blooms  awaiting   judge  Wayne  Hughes  ,  down  from  Whanganui .

CHAMPION  BLOOM  ;       2w – y  ,  –    CHAMPEEN  ,  –    John  Hollever .  Good  size  ,  clean  colours  and  head  up  .  A  popular  choice .

 

 

RESERVE  CHAMPION ;  –    1Y – Y  , —   KINGHORN  , — John  McLennan  . A smaller  but  very  neat  bloom .

 

 

 

PREMIER  1W – Y  ;   Also  AMATEUR  BEST  BLOOM  ,   –   TASMAN  SEA  , —   Peter  Tisjen .  This fine  flower  ,  still  in  good  condition  was  the  champ  from  Titahi  Bay  , 6  days  ago .
