Science category for Daffnet.org

Daffnet.org now has a new category located on the main menu bar titled “Science”.  The purpose of this category is to feature the many scientific discussions and studies  exchanged over the years on Daffnet.  Below are four subcategories, with corresponding definitions, which can be found under Science:

  • Conservation (This is about the survival of species in the wild in the face of land conversion.)
  • Cytology (This is about the study of narcissus cells and includes chromosome work, molecular genetics, biochemistry, pollen size and shape, etc,.)
  • Ecology (This is about how daffodil and narcissus species relate to their environment.)
  • Pollination.  (This is about the relationship between flower structure and pollination efficiency. It also includes reproductive costs and success.)

Over the years, some of you have contributed scientific information to Daffnet that would fit into one or more of these areas categories.  It would be best if the authors and experts designate the correct category for these posts.  If you have time, please log into Daffnet.org and add a science category to your older posts by using these steps:

  1. Hover your mouse over “Manage” on the black bar and click on “Your Posts” (all your posts will appear)
  2. Hover your mouse over any of your posts that you want to place in the “science” category and click on “Quick Edit”
  3. A little to the right is the box “categories (more)“, slide the sidebar tab about 2/3 of the way down and click on one or more science categories
  4. Click on blue “Update” button

You will remain on the “Your Posts” page and can continue to modify categories for your other posts until you click on Daffnet in the upper left corner to return to the Home Page.

Many thanks go to Theo Sanders and Harold Koopowitz for identifying the need for this category and providing the structure and definitions while at the World Daffodil Convention in Dunedin, New Zealand.

Enjoy!
