Mrs. Langtry?

Hello to everyone! I am new in this network, working in a museum in Norway. I’ve got a collection of daffodils, locally collected and with a known history older than 1960. I hope you can help identifying or confirming my suggested cutivar names. This one attached I’m almost sure is ‘Mrs. Langtry’.

History: I got it to the museum in 2006 from a woman, Kari, in Eidsvoll, Akershus county, 60 km north of Oslo. She was born there in 1938, and she and her husband took over the farm after her parents in 1972. Her mother came from Algarheim, Ullensaker, Akershus county, a bit closer to Oslo. She married and moved to Eidsvoll in 1937, and she brought the narcissus from her childhood garden at Algarheim shortly after. The narcissus has been in the garden as long as Kari can remember.

Greetings from Mari in Norway

  1. Hello, Mari, Welcome to Daffnet! Nice to hear from someone in Norway. I’m sure there are people on this list who are very interested in historic daffodils who may be able to help you identify some of your daffodils.

  2. Thanks for replies to my request about Mrs. Langtry! I’m so glad to be on this mailing list.

Here is a little more information about my suspected Mrs: The plant is extremely slim and slender, but still strong. Height: ca 35 cm. It is scented, but milder than ‘Actaea’. The first flowers opened 3. May this year, which is the second half of mid season here. I have posted pictures at this Facebookpage, and you can see them even if you are not registered at Facebook:

Click on album name and then on pictures, and you’ll get more information about height, season, description and so on.

Greetings to all, Mari in Norway
