Something Different

In 2005 I made the cross of N. cantabricus by ‘Limas Green Success’. They were slow to mature and I got the first flowers last year but a slug devoured them. This year they were protected and the first has now opened. I was hoping for a larger corona but even though it is small it is still clearly from N. cantabricus. My camera is having a hard time getting true color. To my mind the entire flower is pale green but has a little more blue than the camera sees. I am posting two pictures of the same flower but with different camera settings. The second shows more yellow than my eye sees in the flower.  Anyway you may find it of interest. I suspect they will not breed on but might try putting a large white bulbo back onto one, just in case.

  1. Harold,

I got a few flowers, shown in Daffnet some weeks ago, from the similar cross ‘N. cantabricus x (Actaea x N. viridiflorus)’ which have the same form and develop some unreduced pollen. Perhaps your flower ist pollen- fertile too.
