South Island National Show

Hi Everyone

Now that the show season has finished and the gale force winds over the weekend have wrecked most of the remaining flowers I have some time to post the premier blooms from the recent South National Show which was held at Woodend which is about 20 Kms north of Christchurch.

The champion bloom was a superb double, Blossom Lady (raised by Peter Ramsay)

which was exhibited by Arch Crerar from Nelson. This bloom came from the amateur part of the show and was also the Champion Amateur bloom and premier Div 4-W.

The reserve champion bloom  was the champion bloom from the North Island Show held in Waitara 2 weeks ago. It was still a superb bloom. And just to refresh your memories it was exhibited by John and Sue Hollever and it was a John Hunter seedling (JAH46/90E).

  1. Could you share any specifics about how the exhibitors were able to keep this bloom over for two weeks?
(Obviously a superb flower, with incredible substance and texture, but are there more bits of advice to share?)
