Whoa! This little flower opened late today, and I’ve no idea what it is. It’s growing in a pot, so I’m guessing it’s a seedling, but the writing is worn off the label. I didn’t measure it, but it’s maybe 1-1/2 inches across. The cup is not as green as shown in the photo. I suppose it is a poet cross or poet op, and I expect that most of the green will be gone tomorrow. Anyway, I’m enjoying the moment. :-)
Mary Lou
Wowee, Mary Lou! What a fun surprise!
It was 80 degrees here the last two
days, really unusual, when some years we
still have an ice or snow in March,
which makes me worry about SUMMER
temps! Oh, my! We had a bit of hail
late in the day today at the house which
quickly turned into rain. Thankfully,
I’ve been socking away flowers into the
fridge for a few days prior for the
Memphis show this weekend and when I get
back, I will start to cut flowers for
our Nashville show in two more weeks.
I believe I photographed my Alec Grey
‘Sprite’ earlier, but will have to look
back when I have the time. I need to
catalog the blooms I’ve picked for the
Memphis show now or I won’t get many of
them staged. I’m notoriously slow at
that, but it’s so much fun to stop the
work and visit with people or meet new
folks and I’m looking forward to that at
Memphis this weekend!
Any of you folks north of here (or from
anywhere, of course) are invited to our
show at Cheekwood Botanical Gardens in
Nashville March 31/April 1. We will
love you forever if you bring flowers as
ours will be going quickly with these
temps and hail and wind. Email me if
you want more info!
