This one has a great record in the early season U K shows ..
In our area it is usually well finished before the show season but colour,
quality and consistency are the marks of this big , bright flower .
Terminator — 2 Y – R
Are all the top blooms of Terminator we see from the U K , pot grown ?? .
Cup shape can be a problem ; not many truly round cups in this group .
Cheers John
Hi Roger, John and All,
Terminator is an enigma with us here. It is vigorous and makes large flowers. However, I have never seen one without a wonky cup. I threaten to throw it out every year but the bulbs are so nice that it inevitably gets planted back. I have never seen one in NZ as good as those in theUK but even there the cup is problematic. The best one I have ever seen was Reserve Best Bloom at the RHS Show in London I think grown and shown by Roger. Even it had a cup defect.
Your season is well ahead of ours John, Terminator has goose necked but is probably ten days away from flowering. We are at least 10 days behind last year. Visited Robin Hill’s patch yesterday – he also is well ahead of us even though he lives only a few miles away. He had lovely blooms of Cameo Gem (another that suffers from cup distortion but not in this case), Sulphur Monarch, Florence Joy, and some of our numbered seedlings. It is good to see Robin back amongst the exhibitors!
Cheers,
Peter
