Unknown Daffodil

Hi Guys,

This was a volunteer from about 6 years ago when I was moving my daffodils to our new home in NC. It looks like Snook 6Y-Y, but to me Snook looks a lot like Small Talk 1Y-Y, except that Snook has better form. I think it’s Snook, what do you say.

  1. It is not ‘Small Talk’. ‘Small Talk’ has a flatter perianth (not reflexed) and tends to have misformed petals in a number of the flowers. ‘Snook’ is a possibility.

  2. David,
The flower is about 32 mm in height and about 47 mm wide with very reflexed petals. It produces well. I’m going to call it ‘Snook’.

  3. Becky,

I agree that it is not Small Talk, but sometimes Small Talk can have slightly reflexed petals. I find that Small Talk also has an inconsistent Corona as they often have shortened sides to the cup.

I say it’s Snook also. However Snook is fertile both ways and I’ve pollenated this one for two/Three year and it never sets seed.
