Video on Exhibiting Daffodils Now On Line

The ADS video “Show Your Daffodils!”, previously available only on DVD, is now the first video available for viewing on DaffTube. This is a video for new or would-be exhibitors at American daffodil shows. Parts of it may also be of interest to exhibitors in other countries. The program itself has only about 6 minutes of true video; the rest is still photos. The total length is 53 minutes and 12 seconds. If you or anyone you know is hesitant about entering daffodils in a show, this is the video you or they should watch. From the main DaffTube page click on the Exhibiting and Judging menu and pull down to Show Your Daffodils!

So why has it taken so long to install a video on DaffTube and why aren’t the other ADS videos there? We didn’t want to sign over our rights to YouTube to put our videos on YouTube, so we’ve had to learn how to compress videos ourself in order to offer them on the ADS web site. It turns out, there’s a lot to learn about video compression, and we’ve probably not learned it all yet. Also, each video needs to be compressed multiple times to support multiple devices, so it takes a lot of steps to prepare a video for release.

So the brief instruction is: Click on the viewer to see if it plays on your device. If it doesn’t play smoothly or at all or if you want to download and save the video, try some of the hyperlinks below the viewer window. There are also some links in the Auxiliary Information sidebar to tell you more about our videos.

  1. Kirby…the new video is very well done!  Thanks so much for your time and effort to produce it…and the subsequent optional versions.

    Thanks again…Lynn Slackman
