Clay Higgins on Speed!

Clay, thank you for telling us what you do for each show.  So, it takes about 6 weeks to get ready for each show?  You bring the whole town to help? The surgeons didn’t remove your other 4 arms at birth? And you take speed, right?

I have watched Clay and Fran do their show entries and they are really quite calm about it. Focused, but calm.

  1. Y’all ought to see what Clay and Fran can do for you when they don’t have any flowers of their own to stage! Actually my only Gold Ribbon and Silver Ribbon on the same day out of the same vase in Atlanta…WOW!
I didn’t see any sign of speed, just steady methodical attention to detail….but maybe that was because I’m the one who was always in a hurry….Sandra
    Thanks Clay and Fran

  2. Bill,
Thanks.  Every since you told me about the Piggy Award I have loved it.
As for Focused.  Sometimes I’m too focused, and someone has to yell to get my attention as I “tune” out the dim around me.  I may have bitten someone’s head off for breaking my focus. I then help them, and get back my daffodils.
I remember the time you sat at the table helping Fran and I stage. Actually, I lost focus when I had to replace a last minute daffodil in the Bozievich Award, and forgot to change the label when I did so.  Cost me big time, too.  The judges were ready to award me the blue ribbon when the incorrect label was noticed.

  3. Sandra, That was the Gold and the White Ribbon in Atlanta. You had good flowers, I just did some grooming to make “great” flowers out of them. But you raised them and brought them to the show.
But when it comes to being in a hurry, I put on a deception like the Swan when the fox is nearby: Above the water I’m calm, but underneath the water I’m peddling furiously.

Those kinds of things have happened to all of us at one time or another, Clay. Aside from the mechanics of labels, how about the last-minute replacement stem with 5 petals? I’ve seen it happen.
