Fantastic flower and colour, looking at the growth habit, leaf structure, and bud and flower appearance, my guess is that it is a type of Impatiens, commonly called Water Fushia. Grown in New Zealand indoors as a Pot Plant and outside as an annual as it is very frost tender.
Cheers,
Kevin Kerr
Good guess Kevin! It is Impatiens psittacina (meaning parrot-like), a native of Northern Thailand, some states of India and Burma. Grows in tropical humid and moist conditions to a height of 1.8 metres.
