Hi there. I am working on a small coffee table book, "Simple Southern Bouquets," and wondered if you might have some leads for me regarding daffodils. Each chapter in the book will feature a different starring bloom, showcasing several bouquets of that type of flower, along with information, lore, and stories about it.

I am looking for a nostalgic SOUTHERN story about daffodils to add to the chapter. In the camellia chapter, I photographed a box of the blooms set in Spanish moss to illustrate the tale of how families would ship the blooms to relatives who’d moved from the south and missed their old familiar gardens. In the rose chapter, we will shoot a wedding bouquet of roses, which will illustrate the story of a family whose matriarch took roses from their garden to make her bouquet and then gave cuttings of that bush to later generations. In a sense, the family’s love blooms throughout the region.

Do you have any leads or ideas, or people I might talk to who might have wonderful SOUTHERN stories about daffodils that might be good for me to research for possible inclusion? Some way daffodils were used in Easter celebrations, given as gifts, showcased, shared, etc.? Could you please let me know at your earliest convenience? I’d be happy to follow up with a phone call.

Thanks so much for any help you can lend.
