Dinkie Duffle

Netters,
Well, I sort of split the difference with ‘Dinkie Duffle’. In DaffSeek there are TWO cultivars:
Dinkie Daffle 7Y-O unknown hybridizer and date of intro New Zealand
Dinky Duffle 7Y-R Leitch 1956 New Zealand
The first has a photo that is clearly what I grow, though its cup in the photo is a light orange.
The second has no photo, but the description says it has a “straight small cup”; hardly a description of what I grow.
So, I guess I’d better change the name of the cultivar I grow to ‘Dinkie Daffle’.
Do any of you in New Zealand grow (or know) either ‘Dinkie Daffle’ or ‘Dinky Duffle’?

  1. Friends, I’d guess that what you have, Bob, is ‘Dinkie Duffle’, which the RHS lists as 7 Y-R, Leitch, 1956. Note the different spelling from DaffSeek. The remarks in DaffSeek were taken from Bill Dijk’s 1996 Daffodil Acre catalog. The entry for Dinkie Daffle is from the photo, and Nancy and I have talked about this, and I think the exhibitor either spelled it wrong, or the writing was hard to read. So I’d keep your flower as ‘Dinkie Duffle’.
