I meant to say in my post of yesterday that Ralph Sowell broke off from getting his own daff blooms in the show in order to help me get mine in. He also broke off from work a couple of weeks ago to show me his 3 acre garden in Jackson when I made a trip to the dental school there. If there are only saints in heaven, surely he’ll be there. At a daff meeting a week or so ago he also took out time to show me what a nice bloom looks like. Until he showed me, I thought all blooms would be ribbon winners.
A couple have asked if I entered any flowers into the show Saturday. I think I entered six or seven, and I think I won 4 or five blue ribbons and a couple of others. Mostly I loved seeing other daffodils that I would love to grow.
I think I might like to go to other shows that are a day or so drive from southern Mississippi. Don’t know how to find them, but if the show list is not at one location on the net and you know of a show within a day or so drive of southern Mississippi, please let me know where and when it is.
Thanks,
Jimm
Hi, Jim,
The list of shows is here: http://www.daffodilusa.org/events/show.htm.
We would certainly love to see you at our show in Nashville on March 29-30 at
Cheekwood Botanic Gardens. Let me know if you want more information. I have
visited the Mississippi show a couple of times and the drive via the Natchez Trace
is fantastic, if you have the patience for the 50 mph speed limit. Of course, with lots
of spring blooming trees and wildflowers and NO commercial traffic, that makes it
pretty fun.
Look for other shows on that website link and email or call the contacts for more information.
