Indianapolis Indiana Show – Mini Gold “Snipe”: Linda Wallpe

Linda,
The spathe on this flower is very beautifully behaved. Did you by chance pull it back yourself, or did Mother Nature have a good day?
This season opened here for me with a lot of drizzle and rain. I thought that would be very good, but I found that many spathes got wet just as the bloom was trying to break out. When the bloom dried off after the rain the spathe was glued to the petals and prevented the flower from “being born.”
Kathy Welsh was pointing out to a few of us a few days ago a problem for her this year with some of her flowers getting the very tips of the petals stuck together, also preventing an opening of flowers.
