World Daffodil Tour – Belfast Best Division 1

Next stop after London was Northern Ireland. We were hosted by the Northern Ireland Daffodil Group to a dinner reception our first night in Belfast. The next day we visited the Ulster Transport Museum and Ringhaddy Daffodils. I neglected to take a picture of Nial and Hilary Watson, our hosts for lunch, but be assured all who attended will remember the lunch and Hilary’s family who helped make it memorable. Ringhaddy sits near the end of a peninsula in Strangford Lough and is oriented to that the bulk of the Lough is on the east side with water at the north end and west side. There was a fierce wind blowing from the east on the day of our visit, but the daffodil fields were on the west or leeward side of the peninsula.
The daffodil show was part of the Spring Flower Show at Malone House situated in the midst of a park, the Barnett Demesne. The best division 1 daffodil was Brian Duncan’s seedling 2919 (Chanson x Camden).
