Coughton Court south is the ancestral estate of the Throckmorton family. It is now open for public tours. The sphere behind the house was donated by the American descendants of the Throckmorton family. Names of the donors are inscribed inside the equatorial band. The estate is trying to build up a complete collection of Tom Throckmorton’s cultivars and have over 30 of them currently.
