Sissinghurst castle and garden

Sissinghurst is the estate of the late Vita Sackville-West and her husband, Sir Harold Nicholson. They restored the ruins of the castle in the 1930s, and Sackville-West designed the very extensive gardens. The estate belongs now to the National Trust. Sackville-West was a well-known writer associated with the Bloomsbury Group and an intimate friend of Virginia Woolf. The tower in the photo has sitting rooms she used, and a wonderful view from the top. Our World Daffodil Tour visited Sissinghurst before going on to Lamberhurst.for the show.
