Texas Daffodil Display in Dallas

The Texas Daffodil Society put up an information booth at the Dallas Farmers Market Saturday during one of their festivals to encourage people to come check out the largest fresh vegetable market in Texas.
As you can see the American Daffodil Societies information banners really make quite a show! Ours was the best looking out of about 30 booths on that side of the one market building. They gave us two booths with the second table/booth area used as a rest area and coloring table for younger children and information sheets for adults that got tired of walking through the market areas in 90*F (33*C) temperatures!
I furnish ten free daffodil bulbs with every new membership in TDS that we get at these events. We got at least 9 new members. We were constantly teaching people or educating them that daffodils are NOT just ANOTHER yellow flower:-))
Erlicheer, from Australia, was the most popular daffodil with the adults.
Everyone loved the photos of n. Bulbocodium. We use an 8&1/2″ by 11″ (21.5 CM X 29 CM) color photo of each variety.
When we were slow at the tables we tried to give the children a few samples of hardy daffodil bulbs of their choice to take home and plant to get them started planting SOMETHING for the very first time in their lives! Children were fascinated by such a big bloom coming out of a tiny bulb like n. Jonquilla.
We gave one young lady/girl nine different kinds of “Texas Daffodils” to smuggle back into Germany since she was fascinated that Daffodils could even grow in this Texas heat:-))
We sold a little over 350 daffodils of nine different species/cultivars, gave away 100 or so to children in addition to the gift bulbs with the memberships.
This was actually a GOOD time of the year to have an information booth because MANY of the people who walked up wanted to know what to do with the large daffodil clumps they already had in their yards! It is the PERFECT time to dig and divide daffodils now. It is NEVER too late to teach people to plant daffodils! Keith Kridler Mt. Pleasant, Texas

Good work, Keith! Those ADS display units are very useful for public displays and it is also easier to sell bulbs when you can show a photo of the flower as well. The incredible Daffseek has tons of photos. We used photos from there for our sale last fall and the photos helped sell much better than anything we had done in past years.
