Friends, sadly, we have learned that ADS member, Joy Mackinney, mother of ADS Northeast RVP, Jocelyn Thayer, died 28 SEP. Joy was a founding member of the Delaware Daffodil Society, and held many positions in that organization. She served as ADS Northeast RVP and chaired the ADS Nominating Committee. She also chaired the Wister Award Committee shortly after its formation, and later the Miniature Committee. She was an Instructor as well as an Accredited Judge in ADS. She was also an Accredited Lily Judge and a Master Chrysanthemum Judge. She was truly an outstanding and accomplished horticulturist, having won sweepstakes at the Philadelphia Flower Show seven times. Daffodils were no doubt her favorite flower.
Joy is also survived by a son, Richardson, of Florida, a granddaughter and two great-granddaughters. Services on this coming Wednesday will be private. Your expressions of sympathy could be sent to Jocelyn Thayer, 247 Greentree Dr, West Chester, PA 19382.
