Today, I happened to see a beautiful display with a very familiar smiling face at the Smith & Hawken’s store. It was Jan Pennings! I want to congratulate Jan, Ans, Joost and all the Pennings for what must have been very successful negotiations to land a contract with this company!
The sales clerk told me that the staff viewed a special DVD to learn about the Penning’s bulb business so they can answer customer questions. They were pretty impressed when I told them we had been at the Pennings fields this past April.

I was in the Atlanta Smith & Hawkens store about two months ago, and the manager there, who knows me, asked if Jan Pennings was “for real”. It seemed as if he thought Jan and his family were some mythical legend. I assured him the Pennings were a legend, but very much real!
