It is the home base of Massey University , internationaly renown for its Agricultural , Horticultural and Veterinary Science teaching and research.
Also Grasslands Research Institute , a world leader in grass based farming systems , developing many new grass and fodder crop varieties.
The 6th New Zealand Orchid Expo will be held in P N from September 6 – 13 — 2010
The N D S North Island National Daffodil Show will be held in conjunction with this show , Sept 11 — 12 — 2010

P N is promoting this week as Cherry Blossom Week.
A Japanese Education and Language College in P N was also promoting a blossom walk , but I couldn,t get a car park within half a mile.
