Rongatea

Hi  Daffnetters ,
A small country show in  our central area today , Thursdy  18  Sept
 
99 th  spring show of the  Rongatea & District  Horticultural  and Produce  Society  1909  —  2008
 
Never a big show , today about 240  daffs  from 14 exhibitors , open  judge  Reg  Cull.
 
Champion  Bloom  –  2 W W  Stoke  Doyle  –  –  grown  and shown  by  Alice  Hannam  of  Waikanae.
 
Alice has been a keen gardener and show supporter for over  50 years ,  — initially from  Putararu , Waikato , and laterly in retirement in Kapiti
 
It,s her first  Champion  Bloom in the Daffodil classes,  —  a very happy and deserved winner.

Congratulations to Alice Hannam on getting Best Bloom with Stoke Doyle, that is a great achievement.    I always thought that Stoke Doyle  a very under-rated variety and it is a good breeder too.  Judging from the photos it is a very nice example.  Those coming to the South Island Show take special note as a bulb of Stoke Doyle will be sold at the auction.

  2. Thanks everyone for posting the pics and results for their shows – it’s great to receive them in the inbox.

     

    Does Gold Convention consistently show the depth of colour in the cup further north?  Down here near the lower South Island, it doesn’t come orange-gold as in the div 2 premier flower posted
