Nutrition and petal form

Hey –

 

I think I need to clarify – does poor nutrition, after a bulb has been set into decline, result in the petal form actually materially changing?

So as the petals no longer overlap, are they the same shape (outline) but simply not as broad?

Or do they outright just lose their shouldering and become more oblong?

    Yes that is my experience – the impact is mainly on broadening the petals, improving substance and texture – the result of better plant health!  Do remember that HWT is a specialist activity requiring purpose built equipment (although I remember my father trying to HWT using an old style copper and newspaper!!!)
