We tend to forget that daffodil blooms turn to face the brightest light or follow the sun. The wall behind this bloom is absorbing most of the sunlight and not reflecting any or maybe just a little bit of light.
SOOO if you look closely the whole cluster of the individual blooms were looking to the south. It would make an interesting experiment if we placed a mirror directly behind the bloom on the north side to see if the blooms would even out, with some of them facing the mirror. I have noticed that if you pick blooms really early in the morning or on really cloudy days that the clusters of blooms will be more evenly facing the four points of a compass. Keith Kridler
