A sriking display for daff historians … and convention attendees

We held our Midwest Daffodil Society meeting at the Chicago Botanic Garden today. We got a tour of the facilities which will host the convention in a little less than a month.
This was the first time I had seen the first display on the attached copy of the promotional bookmark.
The books on display must be a one of a kind event, at least for this country. There are 22 or so books on display, each showing illustrations of daffodils. I just wrote down the names of the aurhors and their dates. Most of the older titles are in Latin and even the more recent ones are very long.
Here they are:
Robert Dodoeus (1517-1585) Thomas Paucknow (1622-1665) John Parkinson (1567-1650) Johann Th. de Bry (1561-1623) John Gerard (1545-1612) Iacobus Theodorus (d. 1590)
Illustrations in the following are in color. A. Goossens 1901 F.W. Burbidge 1847-1905, 2 copies Mrs. Jane Loudon (1807-1858) Edward Step, editor (1851-1931)
The display will be in the CBG library during our convention. The Library Director, Leora Siiegel, will give two lectures about this display during the convention, one especially for ADS members in atttendance.
Be there!
