[BODnet] Registration issues at the convention hotel

Forwarded from BODnet

Dear Daffodil Friends,

People continue to express concerns about the hotel registration process for the convention.
Anyone who wants a specific room type (king bed vs. two double beds) and has been told by the hotel that the room type cannot be guaranteed should call the hotel at 847-498-6500 and ask for Renee, Silvia or Peter. We have been assured that indeed they can guarantee room type and they will do it for people who mention that they are with the American Daffodil Society.
Anyone who has been told that “rooms are not available” or “rooms in your block are not available” or “rooms at your guaranteed price of $120 plus tax are not available” should call the hotel at 847-498-6500 and ask for Renee, Silvia or Peter. We have been assured that indeed rooms are available at that rate for people who mention that they are with the American Daffodil Society. This price is guaranteed for the period April 21-April 28, 2009.
In addition, we are told by the hotel that they will honor these commitments up until the day before the convention starts, provided there are rooms available in the hotel (not necessarily in “our block”). In other words, the April 3 deadline for getting the rooms at our rate no longer applies.
For your protection please insist on getting your corrected bed type and/or room charges and dates in writing, either by regular mail or email.
This is a 400-room hotel. They tell us they are actually almost at capacity during these dates (good news about the economy, maybe!), so it is possible that there may be no rooms available if you procrastinate. Should this happen to you, please call or email me and I will do my best to get you located at another nearby hotel.
By the way, the Renaissance Chicago North Shore hotel is actually a Marriott hotel and those of you who are members of “Marriott Rewards” are eligible to earn points by giving your rewards number to the hotel.
Our thanks to Kathleen in Customer Relations for her assistance in resolving these problems.
Please don’t decide not to come because you cannot get the hotel room you need. A good sized group of lively people have registered, and we have a fabulous program.
Any further concerns should be addressed to  title= or Mary Dorner at 847-438-5309.
Hope to see you soon!
Sincerely,
Mary
