This daffodil is growing in mass quantities at a farmhouse near my Virginia home. It is around 12 inches high. The daffodils I have blooming in my yard are Ice Follies, Cassata, and Tete-a-tete to give you an idea of the bloom time. The house was probably built in the 1890's. The oldest grave in the graveyard on the property is 1917 (if I recall correctly).  The house and yard have not really been tended for the past 20 years.

Any ideas?

  1. Looks like ‘Telamonius Plenus’, commonly called Van Sion, to me.

  2. Hello Kathy!
I have also found the same looking daffodils in an area where an old homesite was before the local power company builted a station. I’ve been picking the flowers. Last week, I tried to  rescue them but had problems digging up the bulbs due to the clay soil. I thought they might be the “Scrambled egg” daffodils that I’ve been searching for. Any ideas how I can dig the soils without damage?  Thanks— Donna Shields/ Zebulon, NC
