Attached is a picture showing the tools for making card pins (lip pins) out of paperclips and the various stages in the process. First, use needle nose or any other suitable plier to straighten the paperclip. Then use the wire looping pliers to bend the paperclip around one of the round sections, depending on the diameter you want. Make two complete loops and then bend the remainder to stick straight out from the center. Paperclips are so inexpensive that I don’t bother trying to retrieve them after a daffodil show. And Chriss pointed out another advantage of paperclips over real pins — the ends are blunt rather than pointed so that they don’t stab you when reach into a group to pick up one.
