blind daffodils

Happy Easter everyone,
A few questions: if daffodils planted two years ago all had great blooms last year and only flowered in 25% of the plants this year, but all leaves appear to be healthy, would it make sense to lift the plants in the green and replant them somewhere else in the garden? In which instances does it make sense to put some sand or grit at the bottom of the hole, before placing the bulb into the hole? Should that be done in all or most species, if so in which ones specifically?
Thanks, Niels
