Convention Plans Proceeding Apace

Most systems are go!
We’re on track for a great convention and now the weather even seems to have gotten sensible, despite snow on the last two Mondays. This last was gone by Tuesday. This is just to keep our daffodils on their toes so they keep trying. They should be in fine fettle by April 25.
If you walk into the Chicago Botanic Garden just now you will be greeted by the beautiful poster shown in the attached photo.
Our juices are flowing and we hope those of you who are coming are anticipating it as we are.

  1. Excellent George! Greater Minneapolis has escaped significant snowfalls since early March. We’ve gotten lots of rain but the systems were such we’ve gotten very little of the white stuff – not complaining! But our fantasies of an early spring have been thwarted by below normal temps. My daffs did not brave the elements until this past weekend. I finally found tips ranging from nubs to almost 1 inch tall in two of my three beds.
Chicago being two weeks away and our show three weeks away, we’re still nervous about what we’ll have in the way of blooms. The forecast is for consistent normal to above normal temps (50’s-60’s)for the next week plus so we just might luck out.
A year ago today Becky Matthews and I arrived in England for pre-World Convention adventures and thus missed out on the Richmond convention. I’ve enjoyed seeing some of the now familiar “UK” faces in the recent postings on daffnet and I’m looking forward to seeing everyone in Chicago – with or without flowers from Minnesota!
