Very pretty, Mary Lou – are these commonly called trout lilies (presumedly from the spotted leaves) ? I think I’ll try some next year if they’re hardy in zone 4. Ethel Smith in MN
Many years ago professor from Maine told our spring flora class that it is called “trout lily” because it blooms during early trout fishing season. This would make sense because Amelanchier, is called shadbush, or shadblow because it flowers when the shad are running in the rivers.
