N. wilkommii

Hi Mary,
A week or so ago, someone asked me , offline, whether N. wilkommii was a miniature.  I sent the following:
Some years ago, the ADS list did include some species on the miniature list.  However, as some of our members began travelling to Spain, where many of them grow naturally, they found that the size of species is variable.  So species were taken off the official list.  However, any individual bloom of a species which fits the criteria for miniatures may be exhibited in the section for miniatures at ADS shows.  N. wilkommii certainly could be exhibited as a miniature.
Numbered seedlings or small flowers not on the official list may also be exhibited in miniature classes.  I found this rule on seedlings: “Any named or numbered diminutive daffodil flower which appears graceful, with all its parts in proportion, may be considered a ‘miniature candidate.'”  In this case, the judges have the option of saying something is “too big” and decline to judge it.  This would also apply to species.
This is a long-winded answer to say that in most cases N. jonquilla is a miniature.
