SWODS is lucky enough to receive a bulb from Spud Brogden of New Zealand as the award for the best New Zealand bred flower in the show. The winner for this show was “Ohio Snow” exhibited by Linda Wallpe. This cultivar has been observed with “Much” excitement in the past several years under seedling number and because it won the best in show in our show a few years ago, Spud decided to name it. We need to grow the stock carefully as Spud has very little, if ANY left.

Not only is Ohio Snow a beautiful flower, but it is a durable one too. Mine was the first thing to open in my garden, five weeks ago. hoping to have it for our show, I put it in the refrigerator. And it made it to the show. It didn’t look as good as Linda Wallpe’s (after all, it WAS five weeks old), but it won a blue ribbon in its class.
It is now back in the refrigerator. I want to see how long it lasts.
