Rain

Whilst 11″ of rain is significant in Houston you may be interested that parts of the West Coast of New Zealand had over a metre (39 1/2″) of rain on Monday and Tuesday alone this week. Thats more rain than we get in a year and its only about a direct 150 miles from here. As a result the Rangitata River on the east coast was running 15 times its normal volume. The West Coast is used to coping with rain in such volumes.

  1. Dave,
I cannot comprehend such a downpour! 11 inches is the average annual rainfall here in Oakley; 39.5 inches would be three and one-half years of rain falling in two days! I love the South Island’s scenic West Coast, but I don’t plan to go there during April.
