The intermediate ribbon is awarded to the best intermediate in the show. This was awarded to a seedling of 84-3-9 a 2W-Y from the cross of Angel X Fellowship and was exhibited by Mary Lou Gripshover.

SWODS Intermediate Ribbon – Mary Lou Gripshover Seedling
I’m reminded of a comment Bob Spotts made after the Livermore show about the judges’ selection of best seedling (his flower), but the flower didn’t impress him.
Though I’m delighted the judges liked my flowers, I thought there were better Intermediates exhibited (seedlings and named ones) than this one (which is a 3 W-Y). And the same goes for my Avenger x jonquilla seedling which won the Rose Ribbon. I liked some of my other seedlings better (parental pride maybe?), and Tom certainly had some great seedlings as you saw in several of his collections.
The judges–God bless ’em! They aren’t looking with a “parent’s” eyes.
